RF System Engineer - Wireless Communications
This position can be located in Rochester, Winona, or New Brighton, MN. The candidate must be a US Citizen.

Focuses on system level design for wireless communcations products and systems and documentation using standard methods and tools to provide products that are manufactureable and meet both the customers requirements and the Benchmark manufacturing support groups requirements.

Develops complex designs of RF systems assemblies and components.

Makes Engineering computations and writes/edits specifications.

Verifies completed work, checking tolerances, component selection, and system requirements for their projects.

Evaluation of quality measurements on electronic designs in accordance with a verification plan.

Assists with assembly process and verification of prototypes.

Assists in the development of project proposals and associated cost estimates.

Performs DFX reviews and creates necessary documentation

Participates in the development of advanced/new technologies related to products, assemblies, PCBs, components, processes, methods and tools.

Provides assistance and technical leadership to Mechanical Design, Printed Circuit Board Design, Functional Test, and In-Circuit Test for product and test development.

Provides electrical project level leadership and organization as required for multiple concurrent projects and provides project leadership and training for engineers.

Works with electrical, software, and equipment vendors to understand Customer and BEI requirements.

Develops an understanding of Design For Excellence philosophy and promotes with customers.

Drives electronic RF design strategy development discussions on Benchmark customer team(s).

Assists in the coordination of system level RF design strategies for Benchmark Customers.

Requirements:

Must have a 4-year Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent. Advanced degree preferred.

Must have an advanced knowledge of schematic capture software, PCB layout software and circuit simulation software, specifically 3D field modeling software.

Must have 10+ years experience in designing and developing RF electronics and software for wireless communcations systems in a relevant industry.

Master of advanced RF technology integration and applications.

Strong understanding of wireless communcation protocols and system architectures.

Able to make independent judgments using sound engineering principles and techniques

Ability to work and provide technical leadership within the hardware development and project teams.

Advanced understanding, expertise, and mentorship abilities in the area of specific RF system design.

Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time to include day and/or overnight stays.

Skilled with intermediate or higher software programming techniques and languages.

Strong presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal with internal and external customers.

Demonstrated effective use of lab test equipment, advanced analytical skills and electronic circuit debug.

Effective interpersonal skills for self-directed project activity in accordance with electronic hardware development procedures.

Must have strong problem solving skills and the ability to make sound technical decisions
